ISO 9001:2008 & 14001:2004 Training and Support

The three critical and interdependent elements required to maintain a well-functioning ISO 9001 or 14001 Management System are:

• Management Review
• Corrective Actions (CA) and Preventive Actions (PA)
• Internal Audits

These elements may be used by any organization regardless of their intention to achieve ISO certification. The linked relationship of these three elements results in a continuous monitoring, evaluating and adjustment of the management system. The effective implementation of all three elements enables organizations to continuously enhance productivity, profitability and customer/client satisfaction.

Internal Audits provide management with data on achievement of goals, objectives and key performance indicators that drives Corrective Action. Corrective Action contains and corrects the drift from, or closes the gap between, what should be and what is. A properly performed action to close a nonconformance or process incident report however must not only solve the immediate or surface cause of the incident but the Root Cause. Correcting the root cause prevents further related incidents and is therefore Preventive Action.

A Management Review evaluates the data uncovered by audits, the closing of Corrective Actions and implementation of Preventive Actions. Data is analyzed for trends, efficiencies and areas for Continual Improvement. Review of the effectiveness of the management system results in alignment of people, processes and procedures to take full advantage of available knowledge, skills and resources.
